Forrest Gump(Chapter 8)

When soldiers land at the airport at San Francisco, a big crowd is waiting for Gump and other soldiers to get off the plane. They is carrying signs an banners and all. Colonel Gooch look out the winder of the plane and say he is suprised not to see a brass band there. As it turn out, the people in the crowd is quite enough. First thing that happen when soldiers come off the plane is the people in the crowd commence to chanting at them, an then somebody thowed a big tomato that hit Colonel Gooch in the face. Forrest took off running.Finally he done run into the toilt and hid up on the seat with the door shut until I figger they have give up and gone on home. When he came out, there is Colonel Goochsurrounded by a platoon of M.P.’s, he is looking very distressed till he seen me. “Come, Gump!” he say. “They is holding a plane for us to get to Washington”

When they get on the plane to Washington they is a bunch of civilian on it too. Forrest was excited. He can see the Washington Monument and the Capitol. After they get squared away in their rooms, Colonel Gooch came over and said “we should go out for a drink to this little bar he remembers.”

Next morning they get up bright and early and walk on over to the White House where the President live. The president is a great big guy who talk like he is from Texas. Then the President come up to Forrest and take the medal out of a box and pin it on his chest.

That afternoon back at our hotel, Colonel Gooch suddenly come busting into Forrest ‘s room with a handful of newspapers. The title of one article’s photo is “President Johnson and War Hero Relaxing in the Rose Garden”. Forrest and Colonel Gooch was on the photo.
